Saisoneröffnung: Luzerner Sinfonieorchester katapultiert 5000 Konzertbesucher aus der KKL-Komfortzone

[…] Da zeigte sich, dass es für den angestrebten Weg in die Grosssinfonik neben grösseren Besetzungen einen Chefdirigenten braucht, der wie Sanderling einen Klang mit «mehr Saft» formen kann.

Wie in früheren Dirigaten zeigte er auch in dieser Fünften, das das bereits bei Beethoven beginnt. Die Aufführung bewahrte zwar mit wunderbaren Soli, überraschend modellierten Details und einer Pianissimo-Magie wie von einem Streichquartett die Vorzüge eines Kammerorchesters, das das Orchester einst war. Aber der von den Bässen mächtig grundierte Klang wies von Beginn weg auch weit darüber hinaus. […]

For the second week running, the BBC SSO has played like an orchestra utterly transformed. Why has the sound been so instantly arresting and synergic? How come every moment of attack has been like a bolt of lightning, everyone – audience included – on the edge of their seats? Why are there smiles of satisfaction and sheer enjoyment on the players’ faces? Easy, it’s all down the conductor.

Gustav Mahler – „Rückert-Lieder“ (Peter Stangel) Anton Bruckner – String Quintet F Major in a version for string orchestra
The soloist is the mezzo-soprano Elisabeth Kulman.
The concerts will take place on October 23 and 24 in Saarbrücken and Karlsruhe.

Michael Sanderling on tour with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin

Michael Sanderling returns to the Konzerthausorchester Berlin for guest appearances at the Concertgebouw Bruges on the 16th, the Queen Elizabeth Hall in Antwerp on the 18th, as well as two performances in Berlin at the Konzerthaus on the 22nd and 23rd of November. Joining them on stage is violinist Noa Wildschut performing Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 4. The concerts will also present Bruckner’s Symphony No. 3 / Symphony No. 4.
